The interest in the reconstruction of the personal book collection of the organizer of science, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, historian of the field of the Crimean Studies A. I. Markevich (1855–1942) is explained by the fact that its composition reflects the level of the state of historical Crimean Studies of the era. On the basis of archival data and identified in the funds of the Scientific Library of the V. I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University publications with ownership and gift inscriptions, the fact of transfer of A. I. Markevich’s personal library to the funds of the Simferopol university is proved. It took place in two stages: in 1918 part of the collection was sold to the Academic Library of the Taurida University, and in 1930 it was donated to the Scientific Library of the M. V. Frunze Crimean State Pedagogical Institute. Partially restored the composition of the personal book collection of the historian. These are editions on the history and archeology of Crimea (more than 60 titles), as well as gifts of Markevich’s colleagues (books on the directions of their scientific research related to the history of Russia, individual places, philology, philosophy).
