The article considers the organization of the work of the Department of Naval Censorship of the Black Sea Fleet with correspondents of the central periodicals in Sevastopol during the heroic defense of the city 1941–1942. The article is based entirely on the analysis of archival documents of the Russian State Archive of the Navy, the Central Naval Archive – a branch of the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (the Archive of the Navy, Gatchina), the Russian State Archive of Socio-Political History, a part of these documents is being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.
