The article presents a poetonymological study of Marina Tsvetaeva’s works, united by a common theme associated with the name Orpheus and its referent. Attention is focused on the peculiarities of the named proprietary unit functioning in the works, the analysis of which reveals the place and meaning of this word-symbol in the author’s poetosophy. The article continues the study of the onym poetics issues, the development of which was carried out earlier on the material of German-language poetry. Detailed multi-aspect analysis of the onymic unit Orpheus as an element of verse structures allows us to explicate the content of the mythopoetonym as a linguistic sign and material embodiment of the image-symbol. The study revealed the presence of interaction of the onym with verse structures at different levels: phonetic – with sound matter, lexical-semantic, syntactic-prosodic, as well as with discourse beyond the limits of poetic texts. The peculiarities of the onym and its components use in strong positions, rhymes and sound repetitions ensure its semantic and stylistic isolation and determine the onym significance as a key thematic word. As a result, not only the text- and thought-forming role of the onym Orpheus is confirmed in individual poetic works, but it is established conceptual significance for M. Tsvetaeva’s poetic discourse as a whole.
